Republic Curbside Recycling
What to recycle
Republic's curbside recycling is an all-in-one program, meaning all recyclables are placed into one bin with no sorting, though all recyclables must be clean, empty and dry. The following items should be placed in the green recycling cart:
Flattened corrugated cardboard.
Boxboard, cereal and frozen food boxes.
No. 1 and 2 plastics. No. 1 plastics include soda and water bottles, mouthwash bottles, peanut butter containers, salad dressing and vegetable oil containers. The latter three should be cleaned before recycling. No. 2 plastics include milk jugs, juice bottles; bleach, detergent and household cleaner bottles; and shampoo bottles.
Steel, tin and aluminum cans.
Empty aerosol cans.
What not to recycle
The following items should NOT be placed in recycling carts:
Mixed papers
Nos. 3-7 plastics
Plastic grocery bags.
Waxed cartons.
Batteries.
Styrofoam, including food containers, cups and packing peanuts.
Glass.
Foil.
Pill bottles.
Plastic or metal clothes hangers.
Light bulbs.
Frozen food bags and chip bags.
Hazardous or toxic product containers (ex. paint cans or lighter fluid containers).
Food and wet waste.
Food-contaminated paper plates and napkins.
Appliances and electronics.
Bubble wrap.
Garden hoses.
Rubber balls and sports equipment.
Tires.
Wood.
Yard waste.
San Angelo city residents with their most recent water bill and a photo ID with a corresponding address can also drop off e-waste such as computers, TVs, printers, copiers, fax machines, ink cartridges, DVD and VHS players, CDs and VHS tapes at the San Angelo Landfill. There is a small fee for non-City residents.
The landfill is open 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays.

Terracycle offers various mail-in programs to help recycle many hard-to-recycle items. Many of the programs are free of charge and specific to certain brands.

You can search by brand of the computer to find easy, and normally free, ways to recycle your old computer. Some of the brands will also help you with recycling other out-of-date electronics.
